Poland’s national carrier LOT has ordered five U.S. Boeing 767-300 medium-range aircraft and 10 short-haul airliners from the Franco-Italian group Avions de Transport Regional, the official news agency PAP reported.

PAP said the five 269-seat Boeings will be delivered between 1994 and 1996 but it did not put a value on the order. LOT brought two Boeing 767-200s into service a year ago and is due to take delivery of a 767-300 in August.

The short-haul ATR-72s will be delivered between 1991 and 1996, with the first arriving in June, 1991. French air industry sources said the order is worth at least $100 million.

PAP also reported that LOT will resume regular flights to Kuwait later this month and begin seasonal flights next month from Warsaw to Vilnius, capital of the rebel Soviet republic of Lithuania, and to the Ukrainian city of Lvov.
