SEAL BEACH : Mola Says It Needs City OK by June 1

Share

The Mola Development Corp. announced Monday night that it has a June 1 deadline for city approval of its controversial $200-million residential project. After that date, the company’s option to buy the land from Hellman Ranch is in serious jeopardy, said Mola spokesman Tim Roberts. He said that the option to buy had been extended month to month but that the company was told it would not be extended again after June 1.

The City Council is expected to meet late into the night tonight to pass the first needed approvals for the project.

Mayor Victor S. Grgas said the outgoing council hopes to vote on the development before swearing in the new council tonight--not to determine the fate of the project but to get the current council’s stand on record. Grgas’ statement followed accusations that the council hoped to approve the project in two special meetings last week, before the two new council members are seated.
