Two Saugus High School students have been arrested in connection with the alleged videotaping of a sex act between two teen-agers, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Monday.

The two 16-year-old boys were arrested Friday at the high school on suspicion of videotaping a sex act involving a minor, a felony, Lt. Harvey Cantor said.

The boys, whose names were not made public because they are juveniles, were later released to the custody of their parents. Prosecutors have 45 days, under juvenile court procedures, to file or drop the charges, Cantor said.

Few details of the investigation were released. Cantor said the incident involved the two boys filming a 14-year-old girl, without her knowledge, while she was engaged in a sex act.

“She was a willing participant in the act but she had no idea anyone was videotaping it,” Cantor said.

Cantor declined to say whether either of the suspects was engaged in the sex act with the girl.

The girl learned that she had been videotaped afterward, when she saw the camera hidden in a closet, Cantor said. She became upset and later told a counselor at Saugus High, and deputies were contacted, he said.
