Four Titans on All-Big West Softball Team
Four Cal State Fullerton softball players--pitcher Ann Van Dortrecht, third baseman Joy Tiner, outfielder Mich DeBree and designated hitter Carey Hess--have been named to the All-Big West Conference first team.
Van Dortrecht (28-10) has a conference-leading 0.44 earned-run average and 211 strikeouts. Tiner is the Titans’ leading hitter with a .313 average, 10 doubles and 15 runs batted in.
DeBree is batting .291 with 17 RBIs, and Hess is hitting .279 with six doubles, five triples and 12 RBIs for the Titans, who open NCAA tournament play on Friday against Cal State Long Beach.
Three other players from Orange County, Fresno State shortstop Martha Noffsinger (Huntington Beach), Nevada Las Vegas first baseman Dena Baker (Huntington Beach) and Fresno State utility player Gina LoPiccolo (Fullerton) also were named to the first team.
