Hearn’s Daughter in Serious Condition

Laker announcer Chick Hearn’s daughter, Samantha, suffering from viral pneumonia, remained in serious condition in a Van Nuys hospital Wednesday.

Hearn said she is sedated and unconscious. “It’s very critical,” he said. “We’re praying for her.”

Samantha Hearn, 41, who was a model during her early 20s, has suffered from anorexia, an eating disorder, most of her adult life.

“It makes this doubly difficult for her,” Hearn said. “She’s a fighter, but she’s just not as strong (as other people).

“All Marge and I want is for her to come home so we can care for her.”

Hearn said fluids are being provided intravenously and she is scheduled to have a tracheotomy to ease her breathing.

Hearn, as he did on the air Tuesday night, asked that anyone wishing to send a get-well card to his daughter could do so in care of the Forum, P.O. Box 10, Inglewood 90306.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed,” Hearn said. “It’s now at the mercy of God.”
