Disease Detection International Inc.: The Irvine-based diagnostic test company reported a net loss of $529,415 for the first quarter, contrasted with a loss of $323,984 for the comparable period in 1989. Revenue jumped to $786,274 from $127,327. H. Thad Morris, president and chief executive, said the company expects to reach profitability in the third quarter, following completion of a major investment in automation and new facilities.
