Notre Dame football Coach Lou Holtz said professional sports should set up a national system of 10 academies for athletes whose main goal is to play in the pros.

“You would learn how to write a check, how to do TV interviews and how to pick an agent,” Holtz said at a news conference in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Preparing people for pro sports, Holt said, is not the role of universities.

“That’s not what college athletics is all about,” he said. “We’re here to educate people.”
