OJAI : School District Picks Successor to Purdom
The Ojai Unified School District has named Pamela Martens as assistant superintendent to replace William Purdom, who is retiring July 1.
The district chose Martens, 39, out of 38 applicants. Her salary will be $61,358 a year.
Martens is proficient in Spanish and French, has master’s degrees in education and Native American studies and hopes to complete her doctorate in educational policy and organization from UC Santa Barbara two months from now.
Purdom, 59, of Ventura, has served 20 years as assistant superintendent of education and instructional services for the Ojai schools.
The North Ventura County chapter of the Assn. of School Administrators on Friday gave him its Administrative Excellence award, recognizing his dedication, administrative skills and leadership abilities.
