Paramount 7, Magnolia 3--Miguel Inzunza’s two-run double capped a four-run third inning to lead Paramount at Magnolia.

Paramount (16-4), the San Gabriel Valley League champion, scored four runs on four hits in the third inning to seal its fourth victory in a row.

Magnolia (13-11) had its best chance to get back in the game when it loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth.

Center fielder Tony Truel was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Mauricio Hernandez and Brice Hoy each walked. But Paramount pitcher Steve Lopez got Grant Rowan to fly out, then Kevin Schlect hit a sacrifice fly to score Truel. Chad Phillips flied out to center to end the inning.

Paramount added two runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Lopez, which gave the Pirates a 6-1 lead.

Paramount added another run then Truel hit his second home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning.

Lopez went 6 2/3 innings for Paramount, allowing five hits and three runs, two of which were earned. Magnolia starter John Strait retired the first six batters he faced before running into trouble in the third. Inzunza and Fidel Alarcon each went two for four for Paramount.
