Kronemann, Lubner Begin Play Today
UC Irvine tennis players Trevor Kronemann and Richard Lubner will play first-round singles matches today in the NCAA Division I individual championships at the Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells.
Kronemann, who is ranked 20th in the nation and is a three-time All-American, will play No. 61 Mickey Maule of Southern Illinois. Lubner, ranked 33rd, will face No. 17 Michael Zimmerman of Harvard.
Irvine’s doubles team of Kronemann and Shige Kanroji, ranked 29th, begin play Thursday against the 12th-ranked team of Johan Donar and Conny Falk of Miami.
Three former Orange County high school standouts were named to the all-Western Athletic Conference baseball team.
Selected to the first team was Utah third baseman Mike Edwards, a former all-county defensive back at Valencia, and San Diego State designated hitter/catcher Eric Christopherson from Ocean View High School.
