THE SIDELINES : Bugno Widens Tour of Italy Lead

VALLOMBROSA, Italy —
Gianni Bugno of Italy won the seventh stage of the Tour of Italy today and widened his overall lead in the cycling race.
Bugno has led since the first stage in Bari last Friday.
Frenchman Laurent Fignon, the defending champion, was second. He is bruised from a spill in the fifth stage.
American Greg LeMond finished far back again and was 133rd in the overall standings. Two other Americans were ahead of LeMond, John Tomac in 95th place and Andry Bishof in 99th.
