You Are a Suspect

Donald Forbes, wealthy, 50ish and living life in the fast lane, has been murdered. There are suspects galore. Everyone involved in Forbes' life is under scrutiny. Vindictive businessmen, mistresses and maybe even you, if you happen to be in the audience.

"The Bay Queen Murders," staged by Theatre-By-The-Sea, sets out to solve the crime of the evening.

The production starts with a glass of champagne and assorted hors d'oeuvres as you attend a wake for the deceased Forbes. As attendees you must have had some kind of contact with Forbes, so be prepared to be queried by the detective making the rounds. Careful, you could be considered an accomplice in this audience participatory play.

The mystery unfolds as you board a craft for a cruise around the harbor to reminisce and spread Forbes' ashes. Yikes, yet another murder is committed before your very eyes. Accusations fly.

Be prepared to explain your whereabouts and bring a sweater for the jaunt around the harbor.

The theater is in Ventura Harbor Village, 1559 Spinnaker Dr., Ventura. The show runs Thursday through Sunday until Sept. 31. Thursdays and Fridays are reserved for private parties of 25 or more. The play begins Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18. For information and reservations, call 655-7688.
