Culver City : Hearings on Developer

Share

The Redevelopment Agency on Tuesday set a schedule of meetings to discuss selection of a developer for the Studio Drive-In site at Sepulveda and Jefferson boulevards.

The 9.5-acre site is to be used for residential housing. The two leading developer candidates are D & S Co., which has proposed a 229-unit project called “Courtyards” that the redevelopment agency staff has endorsed, and Watt Homes, whose 179-unit project, “The Marquee,” is the favorite of the residents’ Studio Drive-In ad hoc committee.

The agency, which is also considering two other residential proposals for the site, scheduled a public information meeting on the developer selection for June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 4153 Overland Ave.

The residents committee will meet June 14, and the agency staff is expected to report to the agency July 2 on the selection process.

The agency also authorized its staff to award a $180,000 contract to Harris & Associates to prepare plans and specifications and to manage construction of a new 650-foot-long street that will cut through the Studio Drive-In site, linking Sepulveda and Jefferson boulevards.

The street would eliminate left turns from southbound Sepulveda onto Jefferson and most right turns from westbound Jefferson onto Sepulveda, according to traffic consultant Art Kassan.
