ORANGE : Disaster Funds for Schools Approved
Funds to buy emergency medical supplies and other disaster-preparedness equipment for schools throughout the district were approved by the City Council this week.
Basic supplies will be purchased with the $30,000 appropriation, said Joseph Fortier, the school district’s chairman.
The Orange Unified School District spent $27,000 on emergency equipment for the 38 school sites in 1987-88, but the stockpile is still insufficient to handle demand during a major earthquake, Fortier said.
