Measure F on our June ballot has no formal opposition. In fact, 12 citizens groups have already endorsed Measure F because they know it will help avoid the kind of water shortages and water rationing occurring in San Clemente.
The South Coast Water District (South Laguna Beach, Laguna Sur and north Dana Point) has already decided to build a new water pipeline to assure a permanent water supply for the coastal area in case our existing lone pipeline is damaged by an earthquake or other emergency.
The pipeline will be built. The only remaining question is how to pay for it. Measure F would authorize sale of general-obligation bonds, which would be financed by our tax bills. If Measure F does not pass, the district has only one other choice, to raise our water rates by as much as 40%.
