A 31-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of writing $25,000 worth of forged and counterfeit checks.
Paula Ann Bellin, a resident of San Diego’s Encanto neighborhood, was charged with numerous counts of forgery and possession of counterfeit checks, said a spokesman with the El Cajon Police Department. She was being held at the Las Colinas jail for women in Santee.
After a four-month investigation by the El Cajon and San Diego police fraud units, authorities searched Bellin’s home and business Tuesday and found what investigators believe were stolen checks, mail, pieces of identification and discarded records from the Department of Motor Vehicles, the spokesman said.
