One of the Best: Quiksilver, the fast-growing Orange County surfwear maker that spells its name funny, has been named again to Business Week’s list of the nation’s best small-growth companies. The Costa Mesa manufacturer of hip sportswear ranks 15th among 100 small firms that have shown significant improvement in earnings, sales and return on invested capital during the past three years.

The company, which is described in the May 21 issue of the magazine as a maker of “surf and sporting togs that a little sand couldn’t hurt,” was credited with having a three-year average sales growth of 56% and annual profit growth of 145%.
