MISSION VIEJO : Democrat Files as Write-In Candidate
Tom Potocki, a Mission Viejo resident, has filed nominating petitions for a write-in candidacy as a Democrat in the 43rd Congressional District on Tuesday’s ballot.
Potocki, 44, owns a photographic equipment and supply house. He said he filed nomination petitions because there was no Democrat on the June ballot to offer representation on such issues as the environment, transportation, senior citizens rights and women’s rights.
The seat is held by Rep. Ron Packard (R-Carlsbad), who is unopposed in the Republican primary.
To gain a place on the November ballot, Potocki must receive at least 3,000 write-in votes Tuesday.
