Art in the Park
Are you feeling cultural, but don’t want to browse through a stuffy museum when the June sun shines above? Then head to the green lawns of the Exxon Co. in Thousand Oaks Saturday and Sunday for Artwalk ’90.
The third annual juried fine arts festival will feature the works of about 135 artists and crafts people, plus plenty of fresh air. Paintings, graphics, sculpture, pottery, weaving and jewelry are among art that will be for sale. Food will be available and there will be door prizes. The event is part of Thousand Oaks’ Arts Festival ‘90, six weeks of cultural and artistic events that run through July 4 and include concerts, field trips, art and sculpture exhibits and drama and dance performances.
Artwalk ’90 will be held at the Exxon Co. grounds, 225 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission is free. Call 373-0054 or 497-6697. For information on Arts Festival ’90 or a poster listing event schedules and locations, call 496-8601.
And don’t forget the kids. Children’s Festival of the Arts will coincide with Artwalk ’90 Saturday at Conejo Community Park. Children ages 5 to 12 can learn about various art media through hands-on participation and demonstrations.
Conejo Community Park is at Dover and Hendrix avenues. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and is free. Call 495-2163.
