China to Open Futures Market: China this summer will open what it says is the first futures market in a socialist country, an official newspaper reported. The market will open in August in the central city of Zhengzhou and will handle wheat transactions, the China Daily said. If successful, the government may open markets for corn in the northeast city of Changchun, rice in the central city of Wuhan and pigs in Sichuan province, the paper said.
