Duncan Takes Golf Lead With Second-Round 69
Pat Duncan, three-time defending champion of the San Diego Amateur Golf Championships, overtook first-round leader Richard Lindemann by shooting a second-round 69 at Torrey Pines on Sunday for a two-round total of 140 in the 58th annual event.
Lindemann dropped out of the top three.
Ken Earle moved from third to second place by shooting a 68 for a two-day total of 142 and Jon Erickson moved into third (75-69--144).
SAILING
Camouflage, a boat out of the Long Beach Yacht club skippered by Alvin Schulz, took the championship of the 1990 Lipton Cup held by the San Diego Yacht Club with a final point total of 3.5 despite losing Sunday’s final race to Quintessence, a boat out of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club skippered by Donald Hughes.
Quintessence won the last race of 15 nautical miles in a corrected time of 2:09.09. Camouflage was second at 2:09.39.
Quintessense finished second in the overall standings at 5.75.
