New Curbs on Assault Weapons and Second Amendment Rights

Share

To those NRA lobbyists and others who say that any form of gun control hurts the average citizen, I say bosh and nonsense. A gun in the hands of a drugged or enraged citizen can easily kill other people. A gun in the hands of a 7 year old who is curious about how it works--that can kill, too. There should be an absolute ban on all guns except those in the hands of law enforcement, military and other authorized persons.

Taking this a step further, there should be a crash program to develop incapacitating non-lethal weapons of defense to replace all guns, including those in authorized hands. It really disgusts me every time a lawman kills someone because it looked as though that person was about to shoot him. If the lawman is a good enough shot to kill the suspect, then he is also good enough to put him out of action without killing him. Yes, there would still be the problem of illegal lethal weapons, but why not make the penalty for mere possession of lethal weapons a stiff one, like a mandatory five years in prison?

If unborn fetuses have a right to life, then so should ordinary citizens.
