OXNARD : Stepfather Arrested in Shooting of Man
A man was shot and seriously wounded, and his stepfather was arrested at the home they share in south Oxnard.
Police said Harold C. Heupel, 56, was being held at the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder in the shooting Wednesday of his stepson, Gene Kight, 33.
Bail was set at $250,000.
Detective Bob Stofey said the two men had been drinking in their home in the 2100 block of Curran Street when they began arguing.
Kight was shot several times in the torso.
He was in serious but stable condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
