Pan Am Promotes 2, Forms ‘Office of the Chairman’

Thomas G. Plaskett, chairman, president and chief executive of Pan Am Corp., has been joined by Richard H. Francis and Peter T. McHugh in a corporate “office of the chairman” created by Pan Am’s board. In conjunction with the move, Francis and McHugh were both promoted to executive vice president.

Francis formerly was senior vice president and chief financial officer for Pan Am and its Pan American World Airways unit; McHugh was senior vice president, marketing, for the subsidiary. Both men joined Pan Am in 1988.

A spokeswoman said the promotions were made “to recognize the realities of roles that have already existed for some time.”
