Three Hotel Chains Offer Summer Cuts

Several hotel chains are offering summer discounts.

Inter-Continental Hotels has a “European Spectacular” campaign until Sept. 2 at 37 hotels in 28 cities. The campaign includes a full American breakfast daily, an English-language newspaper daily and a packet with a city map and sightseeing information. All taxes and service charges are included in the basic room rate.

Rates start at $89 a night, both single and double occupancy. No charge for a child 14 or under with a parent. Rates at the various hotels in the summer program represent as much as 60% off regular rates, according to Inter-Continental.

Among the cities with participating hotels are Athens, Amsterdam, Belgrade, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Geneva, Helsinki, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Athens, Bratislava, Brussels and Glasgow.

Hilton International’s “Summer Sale” program continues until Sept. 3 at 68 properties around the world. Rates start at $59; tax and service charge is extra.

At most hotels, a child can share the parents’ room at no additional charge. One child free.

SRS Hotels has a “Summer Celebration” program at 54 hotels in 14 countries until Aug. 31, with discounts of up to 53% off regular rates. Starting at $110 on a double-occupancy basis ($75 for a single), rates include a buffet breakfast, plus tax and service charge. One child up to 12 can stay free with a parent, but the child’s breakfast is extra.

Among the cities with participating hotels are Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Nuremberg in Germany, plus Basel, Bergen, Innsbruck, Stockholm and The Hague.

Eight Edwardian Hotels in London are participating in a “Midsummer Night’s Dream” program that calls for up to 50% off room rates. Prices start at $99 until Aug. 31, and include a full English breakfast, free accommodation for one child 14 or under, a gift voucher to Burberrys Department Store valued at about $18 and tax and service charges.

The hotels are the Hampshire, Berkshire, Mountbatten, Kenilworth, Grafton, Vanderbilt, Skyway and Marlborough.
