Speaking as an civilian volunteer aide to Gen. John T. Chain Jr., Commander in Chief, Strategic Air Command, I was appalled by the Home Box Office movie “By Dawn’s Early Light.” The story was misleading, filled with total untruths, a distortion of facts beyond belief and a total insult to the outstanding SAC Commander in Chief, his entire command and the U.S. Air Force.
The movie (which dealt with a nuclear attack involving the United States and the Soviet Union) is a slap in the face to the wonderful SAC people who, besides keeping our country safe, have the best air safety record in the world.
Shame on the producer, writer and cast of “By Dawn’s Early Light,” which lambasted America’s top flying crews.
