Lexus Reportedly to Rank Tops: Toyota’s year-old Lexus division will rank first in a survey to be released in July of how satisfied owners are with their 1990 cars, the Detroit Free Press reported. It said Japanese cars will dominate the top of the list, which was compiled by J. D. Powers & Associates of Agoura Hills. General Motors Corp.’s Buick was said to be the only domestic division in the top five in Powers’ annual Initial Quality Study. Lexus reportedly ranks highest, with reports of 82 problems per 100 vehicles. Mercedes follows with 84, Toyota with 89, Infiniti with 99 and Buick with 113. J. D. Powers declined to confirm the newspaper report.
