FOOTNOTES : Egypt’s Tie Too Much for 2 Men

The excitement of watching Egypt’s 1-1 tie with the Netherlands in a World Cup soccer match was said today to have caused the deaths of one man in Egypt and another in Jordan.

Mohamed Sayed Eissa, 25, suffered a massive heart attack and died immediately after the Egyptian goal scored by Magdi Abdel-Ghani, the newspaper Al Akbar reported.

In northern Jordan, Jalal Omar Bazlamit, also 25, died of a similar heart attack as he celebrated the Egyptian goal.

Jordan was eliminated in World Cup qualifying rounds, but most Jordanians root for the two Arab teams that made the finals, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
