SHORT TAKES : S.F. Radio Station Honored

NEW YORK — KCBS radio of San Francisco won the Grand Award for best news program for its coverage of the 1989 earthquake at the International Radio Festival of New York awards ceremony Wednesday night.
The British Broadcasting Corp. won 11 gold medals--the most of any nominee. Westwood One Radio Networks and its NBC Radio Networks subsidiary were next with four.
Capital Cities-ABC and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. each received three gold medals. Capital FM in London, KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia and Radio Today in New York each got two gold medals. The Associated Press Radio Network won one gold medal.
