THE SIDELINES : Bayakoa Heads Milady Field of 4
A field of four headed by Bayakoa, the Eclipse Award winner as the outstanding older filly or mare in the country last year, has been entered in Saturday’s $150,000-added Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Bayakoa will be ridden by Laffit Pincay and was assigned high weight of 127 pounds for the 39th running of the 1 1/16 mile race for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up.
Others entered were Fantastic Look, who will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux and was assigned 113 pounds; Felidia, Martin Pedroza, 112 pounds, and Kelly, Corey Nakatani, 110 pounds.
If all four entries go to the post, the total purse will be $157,200 and the winner will earn $89,700.
Bayakoa, a 6-year-old daughter of Consultant’s Bid, will be trying to win the Milady Handicap for the second straight year. If she does, she’ll surpass the $2-million mark in career earnings.
