At Play in the Fields of the Lord (Saul Zaentz). Shooting in Brazil and the U.S. The producer of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” brings us this tale of mercenaries, missionaries and the Indians who clash with one another. Deathstalker IV (Concorde). Shooting in Bulgaria. The title character must retrieve his own soul, which is perched up high atop the “dark mountain” in an ancient urn and is closely tended by the devils of Orlock. Producer/director/screenwriter Howard R. Cohen. Stars Rick Hill.

Life Stinks (Brooksfilms/Pathe). Shooting in L.A. Mel Brooks’ first since “Spaceballs” has him portraying a callous billionaire who makes a significant wager that he can survive the city streets with nary any resources. Prince of Tides (Columbia). Shooting in New York and South Carolina. Barbra Streisand produces and directs the famous novel; her first directing effort since “Yentl.” The Pat Conroy bestseller concerns Streisand the Big Apple shrink who tumbles into a passionate love affair with a fellow up from South Carolina. Radio Flyer (Stonebridge). Shooting in L.A. Rosanna Arquette is a mom, saddled with two sons, whose dreams of adventure and fantasy propel her into a world devoid of family problems. With Children,” stars as the eldest of a raucous gaggle of kids whose mom leaves for an extended vacation.
