World IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Civilians Capture Palestinian Raiders
Israeli civilians captured five Palestinian youths who planned to attack Jews after entering central Israel from the occupied West Bank, police said. They said the civilians from Kibbutz Eyal, less than two miles from the West Bank town of Kalkilya, had been watching for crop saboteurs when they seized the five. Police said the Palestinians, aged 14 to 22, had been planning their raid for six months and aimed to kill or injure Jews. They carried knapsacks, food, maps of Israel, knives and axes. The kibbutz members were praised by police for their efforts.
