Arthur Andersen in Soviet Union’s Venture: Arthur Andersen & Co. announced that the Soviet Union’s Ministry of Finance approved a joint-venture agreement between Arthur Andersen & Co. and two leading Soviet companies, making Andersen the first professional services organization of its kind to be authorized to audit balance sheets of Soviet companies and to do audits of Western/Soviet joint ventures in the Soviet Union. Andersen is the first Western professional services organization to have a controlling interest in a joint venture in the Soviet Union.
