Share

West Covina’s superintendent of schools has accepted the same position with the Escondido High School District.

Jane Gawronski, 49, will assume her new superintendent’s post July 16. She was selected from a field of 30 candidates and will be paid $85,000 a year.

Gawronski will take over from John Cooper, who is resigning early because of districtwide displeasure with his management style. In Escondido, she will preside over a high school district composed of four schools that serve 5,700 students.
