SANTA PAULA : Gang Task Force, Graffiti Plan OKd

Share

The Santa Paula City Council has launched an attack on gang warfare by deploying a gang task force and allocating more funds to erase graffiti.

The City Council voted earlier this week to approve the strategy proposed by Santa Paula Police Chief Walt Adair to create a two-city task force involving officers from the Santa Paula and Ventura police departments.

Council members also approved the creation of a program to paint over gang graffiti scrawled on public and private property.

The program, with an estimated cost of $5,000 to $8,000, will include a telephone hot line so residents can report fresh graffiti to city officials.

Santa Paula Police have assigned three officers to the task force, and Ventura police have assigned two, with six more on call.
