Get the Picture?: Two news photographers wounded by U.S. troops in the December American attack on Panama are suing ousted Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega for their injuries. Attorney Michael O’Kane said in Miami Wednesday that he filed the lawsuit on behalf of Malcolm Linton and Patrick Chauvel because the U.S. government cannot be sued for its actions in war. O’Kane said the U.S. military admits causing the injuries.

Jump to It: Youngsters from 20 states, Canada and Sweden converged on Winston-Salem, N.C., Thursday for a double-Dutch jump-rope contest. “We have a speed round, free-style, singles, doubles and compulsory events,” said spokeswoman Melanie Popper. “Some of the moves are intricate--flips, turns and jumps. It’s quite spectacular.” Oprah Winfrey will hand out trophies Saturday.

Appealing Voice: Constitutional-law expert Alan Dershowitz will lead an appeal of the fraud and conspiracy convictions of imprisoned television evangelist Jim Bakker. “Alan has agreed to be the voice on my appeal,” Bakker said Wednesday. Bakker was convicted last year for his money-raising tactics at his Praise the Lord ministry. Dershowitz also represents hotel queen Leona Helmsley.
