FOR WOMEN ONLY: Looking for a safe bet in the music biz? If an artist leaves their record company--and has a huge hit at the new label--it’s no long-shot wager that the old label will rush out a greatest-hits package. Take Warner Bros. Records, which let Bonnie Raitt go in 1987, only to see her bounce back with the biggest album of her career (and first No. 1 ever) over at the Capitol homestead. Come July 10, Warner will join the party by releasing “The Bonnie Raitt Collection,” a compilation of 20 tunes from Raitt’s 15-year Warner tenure. Highlights include an unreleased 1976 live duet with blues doyenne Sippie Wallace (doing “Women Be Wise”) and a booklet featuring Raitt commentaries about each song. . . . Madonna is having throat problems these days, prompting a string of concert cancellations. But amateur sleuths who’ve been keeping tabs on the Ambitious Blonde say she’s been checking into many hotels under the pseudonym of Honey West (the title character of a mid-’60s private-eye TV show starring Anne Francis). . . . And let’s put Honey West on the trail of Sinead O’Connor, who’s also been touring the country--and spending more and more time each week with her opening act, Hugh Harris. Could they be working on a duet?
