SIDELINES : Tarpley’s DWI Hearing Delayed
Dallas Mavericks forward Roy Tarpley’s on-again, off-again court appearance on a DWI charge is off again.
A hearing had been scheduled Monday on the DWI and resisting arrest charges, after several previous postponements.
Tarpley’s attorney, Jay Ethington, said the pretrial hearing is rescheduled for Sept. 7. The trial is scheduled for Sept. 10 and should take about a week, he said.
The Mavericks standout was arrested Nov. 15 on a north Dallas freeway after officers spotted him driving his car too close to another vehicle.
The arrest resulted in his suspension for 33 games. He was reinstated Jan. 22.
Tarpley has twice been treated for drug and alcohol abuse.
