Rasheeda Moore, the ex-model who lured Marion Barry into an FBI drug sting, testified today that she used cocaine, marijuana and opium with the mayor “over 100 times.”

Testifying in Barry’s drug and perjury trial, Moore said that she had a sexual relationship with the mayor and that they used drugs together shortly after they met in 1986 until mid-1988.

“It was an intimate relationship, and we used drugs together,” Moore said.

She said Barry, who has a degree in chemistry, was an experienced drug user who baked powdered cocaine into crack.

“After he baked it, we smoked it,” Moore testified.

Prosecutors were expected to use her testimony to introduce as evidence an FBI videotape of the Jan. 18 night when Barry allegedly smoked crack cocaine while visiting Moore at a Washington hotel room.

Barry, 54, has pleaded innocent to 10 misdemeanor cocaine possession charges, one misdemeanor cocaine conspiracy charge and three felony charges of lying to a grand jury about his alleged drug use. One possession charge stems from the sting in which Barry was arrested.

Barry watched the 39-year-old Moore with a stony stare as she described details about their relationship. Barry’s wife, Effi, had a slight smile and whispered with Barry’s press secretary while Moore spoke.

Moore told the court that she and Barry used drugs “at least over 100 times.”

“There were times we would do it more than once a day, sometimes two or three times a week,” she continued.

Moore also said she and Barry used drugs frequently at a dozen places around the nation’s capital, including her mother’s home. She said the drugs included cocaine powder, crack cocaine, marijuana and opium.

“There were times he would come by before a meeting or after a meeting and take a hit (of cocaine) and leave,” Moore said. “Sometimes he would stop by before work, sometimes after hours.”

Moore said Barry often became paranoid, and once sent her out to see if someone was watching them from a van parked outside the townhouse where they were using cocaine. Barry had a series of hiding places where he stashed the drug, including a vacuum cleaner bag, Moore added.

Moore said she tried to break off the relationship with Barry shortly after it began in 1986 because “I was brought up in a very religious home.”

Barry persuaded her to continue it, telling her “divine providence” had brought them together, she said.
