NATION : AMA Won’t Censor Journal

CHICAGO —
The American Medical Assn.’s policy-making body defeated a measure to censor editorials in the AMA’s medical journal.
The Illinois State Medical Society, angered by several editorials in the Journal of the American Medical Assn. that were critical of doctors, suggested a censorship panel to review such material.
But the House of Delegates late Tuesday overwhelmingly agreed that the journal should continue to be editorially independent.
