The future looks rosy for “Back to the Future Part II,” which could easily be on top of the Billboard magazine rental chart for a few more weeks. Right now none of the competition seems strong enough to dislodge it. “My Left Foot,” the drama featuring Daniel Day-Lewis’ Oscar-winning performance, jumped from No. 33 to No. 14. Despite its acting Oscar, this one doesn’t have No. 1 potential. It’s still considered a small, art-house-type movie with limited audience appeal. So far, the “Always” star power--Richard Dreyfuss, John Goodman and Holly Hunter--has been able to offset bad reviews and negative word-of-mouth. “Always” jumped from No. 37 to No. 15. “Steel Magnolias,” featuring an all-star, practically all-women cast, entered at No. 31 but should bound into the Top 10 next week. The documentary “Roger & Me” debuted at No. 38.

* This violent, slam-bang, buddy movie starring Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell--long on action and short on plot--should be one of the summer’s biggest rental hits. It debuted at No. 10 and should at least crack the Top Five.
