COSTA MESA : City Plans Special Trash Collection

Share

Residents of Costa Mesa can now do some summer cleaning to get rid of oversize items and save a trip to the dump at the same time.

For the eighth year, city officials approved a special citywide trash pickup for eight weeks beginning this week. The City Council agreed to pay Costa Mesa Disposal Inc. $31,130 to handle the project, in addition to $7,235 in dump charges. Residents will receive notices one week before their pickup date.

Special pickup items should be kept separate from regular trash but put in the same location. Crews will pick up mattresses, refrigerators, water heaters, washers and dryers, stoves, sofas, lumber and furniture. Workers will not pick up tires, tree limbs, asphalt, cars, chemicals, hazardous waste, concrete, dirt, oil drums or paint cans.
