AMERICAN LEGION ROUNDUP : Fast Start and Comeback Lift Woodland Hills West, 6-4

A three-run, first-inning home run by Jason Cohen started Woodland Hills West on its way to a 6-4 win over Las Virgenes in an American Legion District 20 game Thursday at El Camino Real High .

Las Virgenes (9-6) came back to take a 4-3 lead on Paul Schaffer’s three-run home run in the third inning. But West (7-4) used a run-scoring single by Bobby Kim, a sacrifice fly by Greg Lederman and an RBI single by Gregg Sheren in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

Paul Geller (2-1) earned the win while Sean Boldt pitched the final two innings for his third save of the season.

In another District 20 game:

Woodland Hills East 8, Reseda 2--Jamie Zeichick went four for five and drove in four runs as Woodland Hills East improved its district-best record to 13-1 at Reseda. Chris Brown (6-1) scattered seven hits, struck out seven and walked two in going the distance for the winners.
