Pomona : Districting Meetings Set

Share

An organization hired by the City Council to help draw boundaries for six councilmanic districts will hold four meetings this month to gather community reaction to proposed plans.

The Rose Institute for State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College will conduct the meetings:

* Monday, July 23, at Ganesha Park, 1600 N. White Ave.

* Tuesday, July 24, at Palomares Park, 499 E. Arrow Highway.

* Wednesday, July 25, at Washington Park, 865 E. Grand Ave.

* Thursday, July 26, at Westmont Park, 1808 W. 9th St.

All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.

Voters on June 5 approved measures enlarging the council from four members to six, plus the mayor, and requiring that members be elected by district rather than citywide. Only the mayor will be elected by a citywide vote. The new system will take effect at the municipal elections next March.
