La Verne : Developer’s Suit Put on Hold

Share

Lewis Homes of California has agreed to put its lawsuit against La Verne on hold until the city reviews a modified housing development plan the firm has submitted.

The firm wrote the city that the lawsuit, filed when Lewis’ previous plan was rejected, will not be finally settled unless the new plan is approved without changes.

The earlier Lewis development proposed 230 hillside houses on 75 acres, with 137 acres retained as open space. Among other modifications, the new plan cuts the number of units to 186, reduces the development area to 62 acres and retains 151 acres as open space.

The City Council voted unanimously to instruct staff to proceed with a formal settlement agreement, but emphasized that Lewis’ new plan must still be approved by the Planning Commission and council, both of which will hold public hearings.
