Three Say Hi, Two Say Bye

There are three more new kids on the block.

* At Mandarin Dock (yes, dock), 24921 Dana Point Harbor Drive in Dana Point, owner Karen Lee offers more than a hundred Mandarin and Szechwan dishes, all priced between $3.95 and $10.50. * Adolfo’s Cantina at 858 S. Coast Highway makes Laguna restaurant No. 3 for Adolfo and Connie Vides, who also own the Laguna Feast and Adolfo’s takeout restaurant just up the PCH. The Cantina offers more formal dining with steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas, fresh fish plates, homemade tamales and chilis rellenos. Top dinner price: $9.95. Lunch and dinner daily. * At Pescado Poco, 10205 Valley View Blvd. in Cypress, the emphasis is on charbroiled fresh halibut, beef, pork, chicken and shrimp. Combos run $3.49 to $5.49. It’s owned by Jerry Copeland, who was part owner of the Hop, and it’s open daily for lunch and dinner. (714) 828-3390.

On the move: Mark Zigner’s Zeppa has moved from Ocean Front in Newport Beach to Fashion Island. Chef Louis Mangianelli and much of the original staff are still on board; the menu is similar but with a number of innovations. Call it California/northern Italian/Mediterranean with its grilled radicchio salad and such pastas as lobster tortellini with tarragon and lemon sauce. Entrees vary from grilled salmon with cinnamon basil vinaigrette to rainbow ravioli with sea scallops. Lunches are $5 to $10; a la carte dinner entrees are $17 to $21. (714) 640-0600.

Nieuport 17 has moved from 17th Street in Santa Ana to 13051 Newport Ave. in Tustin, where the just-completed Normandy-style structure has European hunting lodge ambience: it’s light and bright with clerestories and windows. To the old dining favorites (swordfish, tournedos, prime rib), owner Bill Bettis has added German and Central European specialties.
