West Hollywood : AIDS Center Wins Praise
The County of Los Angeles Public Library received the 1990 National Assn. of Counties Award for its HIV Information Center located at the West Hollywood Library.
The library, which opened the center in April, 1989, was the first in the country to set aside a space for information about AIDS. The National Assn. of Counties praised the library for recognizing the need to provide accurate and accessible information on the disease in a environment conducive to study and privacy.
