Taiwan Firm to Acquire Altos Computer: Acer Group, Taiwan’s largest maker of personal computers, said it agreed to acquire Altos Computer Systems, a San Jose-based computer components maker, in a deal valued at about $94 million. An Acer subsidiary plans to make a cash tender offer for all Altos shares at $8.35 each. After the merger, Altos will operate as an independent subsidiary of Acer.
