After heat waves, fires and tropical storms in June, the county will have nothing but nice summer weather today and the first weekend in July, according to the National Weather Service in San Diego.

Skies will be fair and sunny with patchy fog and low clouds along the coast, limited mainly to late-night and early-morning hours, forecaster Harvey Hastrup said. “It’s typical summer weather, with temperatures slightly above normal.”

On Thursday, the temperature at Lindbergh Field rose to 78 degrees, with a morning low of 65; the normal high and low for this time of year are 74 and 64. The record high for this date is 84, set in 1981, with a record low of 55 in 1948. A high of 75 with a low of 65 is expected today.

In the coastal strip, temperatures will range from 72 to 77, with lows of 62 to 67, Hastrup said. Inland areas can expect highs of 84 to 92 and lows of 54 to 62.

Mountain and desert areas will have sunny days and fair nights with occasional wind gusts of up to 20 m.p.h. in the afternoon and evening, Hastrup said. Mountain temperatures will range from 80 to 88, with lows of 54 to 62. The deserts will see highs of 102 to 110 and lows of 74 to 82.
