AND FURTHERMORE: At the invitation of a fan who was a patient there, Celebrity Skin will play a patients-only July 25 show at Camarillo State Hospital. Both the Screamers and the Cramps have performed there in the past. (C Skin will also play the Whisky Aug. 18). . . . If you’re looking for a wildly hip sound track, keep an ear out for “Pump Up the Volume,” due from MCA in August (from the upcoming New Line film starring Christian Slater). The album features Concrete Blonde (doing a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows”), The Pixies (“Wave of Mutilation”), Sonic Youth (“Titanium Expose”), Liquid Jesus (doing a new version of Sly’s “Stand”), Ivan Neville (“Why Can’t I Fall in Love”) and a wild remake of the MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams” by Henry Rollins and Bad Brains. . . . And our favorite literary query comes from writer Art Fine, who’s finishing a new book, “L.A.: The Musical History Tour,” which details such notorious Southland pop landmarks as Dead Man’s Curve and Hotel California. Fine needs help completing his list of L.A. pop star high-school alma maters, which range from Fairfax High (for the Red Hot Chili Peppers) to Inglewood (for Sonny Bono). If you have information about more unlikely--or obscure--pop alma maters, write him at 1840 El Cerrito Place, Hollywood 90068.
